Access to our Longarm Quilting Studio

How many steps do you take? For some quilters, the flight of stairs to our longarm studio at the front door is the perfect opportunity to put more movement in their day. For others, steps are a pain in the knees.. and hips and ankles. At Burlington Electric Quilters, choose the access that works best for you. Many of you may not know it, but there are two entrances to our quilting haven.

Sixteen steps or six? Our front door has a sixteen step flight of stairs and the back door has six.

Six steps at the back door to Burlington Electric Quilters

While there isn’t an elevator to access our lower level business, we do our best to make it easy to reach the studio. If you prefer the shorter flight of stairs, let us know when you make your appointment. Just call the studio at (781) 229-0734 when you arrive and Louise will make sure the back door is unlocked. Or, if you can’t do stairs at all, we can communicate via phone and email and take your quilts at the curb.

As quilters, we may have dreams of our sewing space magically dust and spotless, or the corners of a pesky block that suddenly match precisely. If we could wiggle our noses and make magic happen at our quilting studio, it would be nice to wake up one morning and find an elevator next to the studio’s front door. 🙂

Burlington Electric Quilters has parking near the back door and plenty of parking in front. If you use the MBTA program The Ride or Burlington’s Community Transportation Program, their vehicles have room at the back door to drop you off.

Whether it’s sixteen steps or six, you’re welcome to bring in your quilt top for us to quilt, to rent a longarm machine or come in for an introductory coaching session. We’re happy to see you and be part of your quilting adventure.

A new face in the studio

Any day with a quilting frame is a good one.

Next time you stop in the studio, Laura Wurst’s smiling face may welcome you. Laura is helping Louise prepare quilts for the frame, and continues to build her skills with the Gammill Statler Stitcher.

Louise said, “Laura has been quilting for years, but developed a true passion for the craft during the pandemic. Her knowledge and skills have grown greatly working with me in the studio in recent months. She enjoys working with customers in person and on their quilts, finding inspiration in their endless creativity!”

Laura, we’re glad to have you on board!

15 New Statler Quilting Patterns

Just wanted to share the fun new options you now have for your quilt tops. Our Statler Stitcher pattern collection includes 15 patterns that you may not have seen in our Statler Pattern Catalog. There are always so many tempting edge to edge digitized quilting patterns, and we’ve got selections from Sweet Dreams Quilt Studio, Willow Leaf Studio, and Anne Bright Designs, plus old favorites.

I also chose a border pattern that sizes well and has an interesting corner ornament, if custom digitized quilting is what your need for your heirloom project.

Make your appointment to drop off your quilt top and choose your thread and pattern. Call 781.229.0734 or click over to the contact page to set up a time.

Children in Uganda

Thank you from Uganda

Remember our fabric fundraiser for Uganda? Early in 2021, pandemic lockdown impacted rural families dramatically. And the quilters stepped up, purchasing fabric donated by the Toomy family and donating cash that paid for food delivery in rural Uganda.

I received photos from this spring that I wanted to share with you. These families appreciated assistance as they adapted in this stressful and sad time. With little access to vaccinations, the pandemic continues to confine people to their homes and neighborhoods. Thank you for all of your support, and please contact me if you’d like to help make a difference.

Summer 2021 COVid Protocols at Burlington Electric Quilters

Masked and ready to quilt

Back from vacation and ready to quilt! It’s exciting to know that the Massachusetts COVid guidance changed while I was gone. At this time, I’m fully vaccinated, but believe I can offer the safest quilting experience by keeping up the COVid protocols I adopted a while back.

What does the Burlington Electric Quilters COVid safe environment include?

  1. We’ve always been open by appointment only and will remain this way.
  2. Masks over nose and mouth for everyone inside the studio.
  3. Hand sanitizer available for everyone.

Yes, this is more conservative than the current guidance, but many of you have health concerns. I want to provide the safest studio for all quilters. I’m happy to keep up the protocols that have kept Burlington Electric Quilters a healthy place during the pandemic.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation. Looking forward to seeing your quilts and you soon!

Vacation!

Woo-hoo, we’re going on vacation! The studio will be closed from May 24 to June 2 while we visit some of our favorite spots and people out west. We’ll be back on June 3rd, hope to see you then!

To Uganda With Love

Text Box: To Uganda with Love

We are raising funds to support Ugandans who are locked down due to Covid-19 and can’t work.  The money sent to them is used to buy food and supplies to keep them from starving.

Thanks to the generous donations of the Toomey family, we have lots of fabric available – fat quarters by the dozen, yardage in many different sizes and styles, kits and collections, panels, and scraps. Select what you want, pay a small (or large!) donation, start a new project and help our friends in Uganda.

You may leave cash in the bag or Venmo the amount of your donation to @Louise-Rains-1.

Suggested Donations
Fat Quarters $1.00
Yardage $3.00 per yard $1.50 for any half or part yard
Collections $1.00 for each fabric in collection
Kits – flying geese, embroidery, etc $8-10 or more.  Be generous!
