Quilting Classes for Beginners: Starting Your Creative Journey!

Are you intrigued by the world of quilting but don’t know where to start?

We at The Burlington Electric Quilters warmly invite you to embark on a creative journey with our quilting classes for beginners. Whether you’re a complete novice or have some basic knowledge of quilting, our classes are designed to equip you with the essential skills needed to complete your quilts with confidence and creativity.

The Basics, Unveiled!

Our quilting classes are held on Saturday mornings, typically scheduled for the first Saturday of each month, starting promptly at 9 am and concluding at noon. With a commitment to providing personalized attention and ensuring your learning experience is enriching, our class size is limited to a maximum of 9 quilters. This intimate setting allows for hands-on guidance and a nurturing environment to foster your quilting skills.

What you will Learn?

Throughout the course, you’ll delve into the fundamental aspects of quilting. Our expert instructors will guide you through the following key topics:

  • Preparing Your Quilt

Learn the intricacies of preparing a quilt, from selecting suitable fabrics and patterns to understanding the role of essential components like threads and batting. You’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of the materials you need to bring your quilting vision to life.

  • Hands-On Experience

Our classes aren’t just about theory; they’re about practice. You’ll have the opportunity to try your hand at free motion quilting and pantographs, all while observing the operation of computer-guided longarm quilting machines. Gain confidence in your quilting abilities with every stitch.

  • Design and Planning

Discover valuable resources and techniques that will help you enhance your quilting design plans. Whether you’re envisioning a traditional masterpiece or a modern work of art, our classes will equip you with the knowledge to create quilts that reflect your unique style.

What to Bring?

To make the most of your quilting class experience, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes. Feel free to bring covered beverages and a snack to keep your energy up during the session. Don’t forget to bring a pencil to take notes in your provided booklet and, most importantly, bring your questions! We encourage active participation and are here to address any queries you may have.
